God I give you ALL the Glory! I remember when graduating from undergrad feeling like I couldn't really relate to remarks like "wow, I made it, didn't think I would make it." While undergrad had its challenges, at very least I knew with effort I would graduate one way or another! . . . But in these past three years of pursuing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy, even my best efforts would not have been enough to get me through it! It's only by the special Grace of God. . . . While today isn't quite the graduation day I expected I am so grateful for life and the opportunities that it brings! Surely God will finish what He starts! “What’s your name?” Has this question ever made you nervous? Have you ever answered it and had a completely different word spoken back to you? Have you ever just spelled your name for someone to avoid hearing their attempts to pronounce it? In case you missed it, WE TALM BOUT NAMES THIS WEEK. Tomorrow at 5:30pm EST, 10:30pm WAT, to be exact. As many of us living in Diaspora know, people can often be either really creative or really lazy when pronouncing our names. Sometimes they add 3 to 5 extra letters, sometimes they only pronounce half of them! Art imitates life, so enjoy this video! Can you relate? Join our #mynameischallenge by posting a video sharing mispronunciations of your own name to your page or story using the hashtag! Make sure you tag us, share this video, and keep an eye on our story to get into the groove for tomorrow’s live! We want to hear errr’thang you have to say! **CORRECTION TO FLYER: 10:30PM WAT** Hey, y’all! @diasporants is taking over this Wednesday evening to talk about NAMES. Many of us would agree that names are a significant aspect of Igbo culture. In my opinion, our names are our most intimate experience with our culture, yet we don’t often reflect on their impact on the formation of our identity. When it comes to my name, I’ve experienced everything from being renamed after a video game character to having people laugh in my face after I introduced myself. Growing up, I daydreamed about changing my name to something that would make me feel more feminine and help me blend in. It was only when I learned the meaning of each one that I was able to appreciate my parents’ prophecy over my life and wear my names proudly. Can you relate? Let’s Discuss! This week, get ready to answer some thought-provoking questions and share your stories! Weta onu gị to this live - 🗣 WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! . . . #igbopodcast #igbotic #igbonames #igboculture #igbocommunity #igboamaka #igbobants

Happy Mother's day to Ndị nne! 💕 . . Indeed, Igbo people got it right with this name that means "mother is Supreme." . . The"ka" is a very versatile word in Igbo that can be used to mean "that," "still," "greater," and so much more! Best way to get comfortable with it is to practice using it in speach until ọ mara ahụ gị. (You're used to it ) . . . Here are a few examples: • "I ka ga-abịa?" Will you still come? • "Gịnị ka o kwuru?" What is it that he said? • "Akpa gị ka nke a mma" Your bag is more (greater ) beautiful than this one. (Note this ka here comes from Karia so a bit different. ) . . . May we never forget to celebrate the mother's in our lives everyday! But a special shout out on this day! . . . #igboamaka #igbopodcast #mothersday #nneka #chinuaachebe #speakigbo #igboconversationexchange

Happy Sunday 🤗, lol this is actually so accurate lol! Can you think of any additional meanings not listed? Comment Below 💕 . . . When learning a language, especially one like Igbo, these mannerisms, sounds, and the like are super helpful to express additional meaning. . . In the latest episode with @master_zeji , he and I even discuss different ways “ooo” can be used for a learner. For example it can be used as a response to “thank you” so almost like “you’re welcome,” it can be used to urge someone, it can be used as a affirmation, and so much more! . . . Check out the latest episode now on all streaming platforms! Please don’t forget to subscribe, comment, and rate us 5 stars 🤗 . . . #igboamaka #igbopodcast #igboculture #learnigbo #languagelearning

Typically podcast episodes are audios with a guest teacher and me, the igbo learner! However, for this season we wanted to get other learners actively involved. • It was such a pleasure to have the beautiful @chiziduru as our first guest learner! And to have the hilarious and talented @master_zeji help us review survival igbo phrases we’ve taught this season and last! • As an icebreaker however @master_zeji , put @chiziduru and me to the test with Igbo slangs! 🤣🤣 Enjoy! Full episode coming soon on YouTube💕
