Devi Mahatmya Part III: Dhumralochana, Chanda, Munda, Raktabija, Nishumbha by @writeabhinav Sugreeva was filled with rage at the goddess’s insolence and rushed to deliver this message to Shumbha. Shumbha summoned his general, Dhumralochana, and ordered him to bring that evil woman (दुष्टा ) in front of him, dragging her by the hair, and to kill anyone who tried to save her. Dhumralochana rushed with sixty thousand asura soldiers to where the goddess was and ordered her to come with him lest he drags her by the hair. The goddess meekly submitted that with such a powerful person, what else could she do but obey. Dhumralochana rushed towards the goddess, who reduced the asura general to ashes with a humkara. Thereafter, she showered arrows, spears, and battleaxes on the asura soldiers. Her lion also took part in the battle, slaying some with his paw, some with his teeth, some with his nails. Upon hearing the news of the complete destruction of Dhumralochana and his army, Shumbha ordered Chanda and Munda to bind and drag the goddess by the hair to him. If that was uncertain, then he ordered that they should kill her. Not only that, he ordered that even her lion should be killed! Chanda and Munda, along with their army, made their way back to where the goddess was. A slight smile played on her lips. However, as soon as the battle started, her face turned black as ink because of rage, her brows furrowed, and from the base of her forehead, Kali emerged, with a sword and noose. Not only that, she wore a garland of human skulls and held a colorful khatvanga (a staff with a skull on top ). Not only that, she had a terrible appearance because of other aspects of her appearance too – she was clad in a tiger skin, her face was dried up, her tongue lolled out, her eyes were red and sunken, and the roars from her very large mouth pervaded the skies. It wasn’t just the elephants that went into her mouth – the riders guarding the flanks, the drivers with their goads, the warriors, and the bells – everything went into it. Here’s a quick reminder. Amidst all the running around, working from home, taking care of the family and trying to keep safe - don’t forget to take care of your own self. Try to pause and do what makes you feel better! Reading a book, Binge watching, wine, baking, gardening, warm baths, talking to a friend , did I mention wine ? - anything that makes you happy ! Cos you are important ❤️

Your emotional absence makes you a hollow person. Public display do not last long and you eventually have to sit and feel the emotional connection. The denial leads to more loneliness despite being together for the society. Its better to move out from such space and let yourself as well as the other person live a life of personal satisfaction. Understand what you need and what other person expects, are you able to conquer both? Yes? Voila! If not; then step out. . . . @blossoms .thebreeze @blossoms .thebreeze @blossoms .thebreeze @blossoms .thebreeze . . #instagood #instaquotes #goodmorning #goodquote #instadaily #instafam #dailypost #dailymotivation #instagram #instalike #writingcommunity #writerscommunity #writersofindia #readers #blogger #bloggersofinstagram #igers #words #wordgasm #wordsofwisdom

BOOK WEEK. Yep, It’s Book Week. Again!. It’s always Book Week 😂Social Media is full of folk stressed and anxious about Book Week. Or spending money they probably don’t really have on costumes no one really wants or needs.... So. Why don’t schools actually do something proactive like inviting local authors into schools to do talks to the kids? Imagine that.... Imagine how inspiring that could and would actually be for young readers and non-readers alike. Rather, schools and teachers encourage parents/carers - many of whom in 2020 are furloughed on JobKeepers, out of work, closing their businesses permanently or suffering severe pay cuts - to buy expensive costumes or worse still, more plastic imported cheap cr @p , from Kmart (sorry Kmart, I know it’s really great for your profits! ) If I was 8 years old I’d have loved to have met someone who’d actually written and published a book, or maybe two. Imagine someone like my book mentor Andrew Griffiths going into schools and inspiring kids! . Yep. That would get kids reading 🙂 Where’s the creativity gone? Where’s the imagination? And, Why the heck are we teaching people and kids to buy junk they don’t need, rather than books? Geez.... #Repost @the_unquoter with @make_repost ・・・ #QOTD : Do you think ebooks can be a complete repace of paperbacks? . . Life is a journey of learning for everyone. People who step out of their comfort zones or think beyond mainstream or try work in a unique direction for others experience more challenging and unpredictable situations. This experience becomes a treasure for the coming generations or people who look up to those who thought beyond the mainstream. One such example in this regard is Deep Malhotra’s “Brick, Cement and Dotcom: The Unspoken Dark Realities of Entrepreneurship.” As the author says, the term entrepreneur in itself sounds glamourous; this is indisputable. But as it is said, there are two sides to a coin; and Malhotra intends to show the readers the other side of the coin honestly and fearlessly. The author keeps the book in the first person, sincerely reporting the events as they occurred, and lets the readers decide and infer based on their observations. In addition to this, the post scripts at the end of the chapters make the readers understand the author at a personal level and bring them closer to him without their realizing it. This technique's usage makes the book more of a heart to heart conversation rather than merely words scribbled on paper. Simultaneously, “Brick, Cement and Dotcom” gives essential life lessons to the readers and those who may dream of becoming entrepreneurs. The author also shows the transition phase from the times of late 90s to the stage when technology was in its boom phase. Through this, the author depicts the changing circumstances of the many who would have faced the situations he faced. Malhotra keeps the chapters mostly short and keeps the readers connected to the text throughout. He gives brief names to the chapters, but the depth that they carry is a lot more. Although the book is written on a personal note, the author's story can be a story of many. Even if “Brick, Cement and Dotcom” mainly revolves around the dynamics of entrepreneurship, the reading base cannot be restricted to any particular set of readers. I desperately need to continue this series. I read The Darkest Minds almost a year ago and absolutely loved it, yet for some reason I haven’t picked up the sequel, yet I’ve owned it literally as long as the first book. Also I am absolutely in love with these covers. They are so gorgeous.

Have you ever been book-shamed? Well, Book-Shaming, is it even a thing? It is. "Book-shaming is to shame someone about what they are reading. To make someone feel guilty about the book or genre they are reading and enjoying." "What? You haven't read that book and you call yourself a reader?😂" "That genre is for kids. You're in your 20s, start reading mature books.😒" "You haven't read those literature classics? You sure are tasteless! 🙄" Book-shaming occurs when there is a difference in the opinions of people about a particular genre. To think, reading "this genre" makes you more of a reader than reading "that genre" is ridiculous. You don't become less of a reader if you do not read a particular genre or a particular set of books. Is there anything worse than getting shamed for reading less popular books that you love and not reading books that others like? It isn't fair to taunt someone for something as basic as reading. You may be in love with classics but it surely doesn't give you the right to ridicule someone that reads young adult fiction or comics. Just because you have read certain books doesn't make you superior. There are different genres of books and equally different people. A book you may not like maybe loved by another. Know that no book is a universally accepted "bad book". It doesn't exist. You can choose, read and love books, you can hate them even and criticise them all you want. It is ok to have your opinion and preference on books. But criticising a reader reading a book you don't like should be a big NO! Respect a fellow reader and their choices. Never shame someone onto reading a certain book. Let them know, they have a treasure that is yet to be explored by them. Share your views about the books you like, hear theirs. Instead of making someone feel embarassed because they like a different genre, let us encourage reading yeah? Let's never stop reading our favourites just because of some stuckups. Don't let reading that favourite book become a guilty pleasure. Reading should not make you feel guilty, it should make you happy. Read that crime thriller, love story, children's book, fantasy. Read anything that you want. Just read❤️

************* Book Review************* 🌙                                              🌙 **************Spoiler Alert***************** 🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙 Alright, I was finally able to digest this amazing book #girlsofpaperandfire by  Natasha Ngan ( @girlinthelens ). 🌙 The book begins with the reader meeting Lei and what is left of her family. Lei is of the Paper Caste, the lowest caste. Above Paper, there is Moon. Above Moon, there is the ruling caste, the Demon Caste. She is quickly forced away from her family and forced into a life as a Paper Girl, the Demon King's concubine. To be a Paper Girl is a place of honor in the eyes of society. But Lei knows exactly what is is: forced submission or everything and everyone you love will pay the price. 🌙 This book is beautiful. Filled with hope, surprising kindness, and #LGBTQ + representation. 🌙 What I enjoyed:  The evolution of Lei's internalized rebellion against the King and the caste system; the support shown with the other Paper Girls (positive female friend relationships!!! I like that the main character is not your typical heroine, Wren would be the typical heroine. That starting a rebellion has supporters that don't always critically think things through, but keep trying and learning. (Not a great thing in real life, but enjoyable to read ). 🌙 What I did not enjoy: The sudden shift in dialog towards the end. It just felt a bit forced. I wanted to see more development Lei's and Wren's relationship. I wanted to see more of what made the King superstitious. Some of the lore in this book didn't feel explained. And lastly: Wren and Lei's first kiss..... just felt like Lei forced Wren. NOT OK! 🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙 #readers #reader #goodreads #bookclub #bookstagramfeature #readinglist #booklife #booklovers #bookreview #readersofinstagram #bookcover #bookblog #bookgeek #instaread #bibliophile #lovebooks #booknerdigans #bookphotography #booksbooksbooks #bookishfeatures #bookstagrammer #readingtime #ilovebooks #booksofinstagram #bookobsessed #bookish #bookaddict #readingchaos

~Day four • Red~ Characters today may not be fictitious. "You're 26, now is the perfect time to start looking for a life partner." "You're 28, why are you letting all the good guys go?" "You're 30, how on earth are you gonna find someone to settle down with?!" "Heck you're 32, are you gonna live alone and just work all your life!!" She spent many good years of her fun-filled, wild, a bit strange, adventurous, beeeeeeeautiful little life hearing such whispers in the wind - as she'd call them. She didn't mind, people had her best interest in their hearts, of course. But did she stop living her life the way she wanted? Of course not! She worked with all her heart, she traveled with all her soul, she danced on the stage with all her fire and energy and passion and she never ever ran away from her responsibilities too. And her parents were of the best kind they could be, supporting her, encouraging her, BELIEVING IN HER DREAMS. Some would proudly say, you found a son in your daughter - only daughter. And her father would reply - No, we weren't looking to find one. Our daughter is all we ever needed. Without sindoor on her forehead or red bangles in her wrists, that same daughter draped a red saree of the brightest hue and set out on a new journey this pujo, the details of which she shared only with Maa Durga and her own mother, and left the world guessing assuming judging and commenting still! Meanwhile I sort of wondered, if this is the colour when you bleed, then how is it also the colour of love? Of passion. Of desire! Or are they all somehow intertwined into a personality that's driven to live fully, to love intensely. Guess we'll soon find that out too.❤️🌼 #pujo #red #durgapuja #festivals #festivalsofindia #india #bengali #duggadugga #celebrations #writingprompts #ig #writersofindia #festivities #writing #writer #writersofig #writersofinstagram #poetry #writingcommunity #words #thoughts #poetrycommunity #writerscommunity #writers #poetryisnotdead #write #storytelling #live #love #readers

Are you a reader? What are you reading right know? (Let me know in the comments below, 👇🏿🤓 ) . . Creating the habit of reading 📖 can be very challenging! Especially because is a time ⏰ consuming activity! However, is the best way to exercise the brain 🧠 ! I try to do so for an 1 hour every day! (sometimes I can go for 4 or 5 hours in a day! )! . . The book I will be reading for the next three weeks will be “100 years of solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez. This master peace, about the life and history of the Buendía family, won him the novel prize for literature! . . This book has been in my “TO READ LIST” for ages! 🌈AVETE LETTO HEARTSTOPPER 2?🌈 . Buon pomeriggio lettori! Come mai... It’s another Monday in America, back to the daily work grind, and I can’t help but wish I was in the woods again. * Point Roberts keeps popping up in the news because of their border with Canada being closed, and it feels kind of weird to me, since I wrote a fictional account of their town being similarly shut down, albeit for very different reasons. * So since I don’t think there’s actually any way for me to get on this very trail, I’ll just leave a picture of it here instead, to keep the daydream alive. * My upcoming novel that’s set in Point Roberts is now available for pre-order. Get your copy at the link in my bio!
