⏰↩️ C L O C K C H A N G E ↩️⏰ Did you remember that the clocks fall back overnight on Sunday 25 October, which is this evening? 😟 Now before children this would have been fine as you would have either been completely oblivious until you woke up on Sunday or you would have just had some extra time in bed. Now you are a parent things are definitely different. So this week you may have read lots of hints and ideas on how to cope with the clocks changing or maybe you are just going to be winging it. So here is a little tip, leave the clocks as they are when you go to bed on Saturday night and try not to look at the phone (with the correct time on it ). Yes that is right just leave them and don't put them back an hour, because If you have a baby or child who usually wakes at 6.30am (or even earlier ) then waking up at 5.30am on Sunday morning will be pretty tough. 😱 So wait until the morning, then around 11am or so, when you are more or less awake, put the clock back an hour. Then you will have gained an extra hour and can make the most of it by sitting down for your reclaimed hour and having a hot/warm cup and basking in your overall awesomeness. 🤩 Let me know how you get on. 😉 #babysleep #clockchange #clockchange2020 #infantsleep #parentingtip #autumn2020 #babysleeptip

While it’s always best to praise an accomplishment than to criticize a mistake, kids do need to learn how to react when they receive criticism.  . They need to be able to learn from their mistakes. . if it’s handled properly, criticism can be your greatest tool to becoming better in any area of life. . 🎈Use a kind, but firm tone. Don’t ever criticize in anger or frustration. 🎈Give them a hug and let your son or daughter know you love them. Tell them you’re pointing out the mistake because you love them and you want them to know how to do better next time. 🎈Tell them what should have happened and how they could have done better. 🎈If they correct it next time, praise them! Say, “Thank you! I’m so proud of you for learning from your mistakes." . . Like Share Comment

SPOONFUL OF THE DAY: Exercise and the brain ⠀ ⠀ The brain benefits from exercise that makes you breathless, sweat and raises your pulse. During exercise different parts of your brain actively co-operate; exercise transforms the brain and new connections are formed. Half of brain cells are reserved for movement and a quarter for sensory information. The growth factor for brain cells is called neurotropin and after exercise the amount of neurotropin is substantially elevated in the brain. This is the reason why it is possible to learn difficult things right after exercise. To sum it up, exercise can enhance cognitive performance fast among young and old people but also improve mental wellbeing. ⠀ ⠀ Seven-year-old: ”When I spin around my thoughts start spinning around too. I can think faster. They get mixed up in my head and I get new thoughts.”⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #kidssaythefunniestthings #kidssaythedarndestthings #kidssayng #kidssaystuff #brain #brainskills #exercise #family #parenting #kids #parents #dad #mom #familymoments #happyparents #happyfamily #happyfamilytime #parentslife #tiredparents #parenting101 #gentleparenting #parentswellbeing #parentsupport #parentingwin #parentinghelp #parentingtip #spoonfulofawesomeparenting

Did you know that children follow the values and rules of parents they feel connected to? A strong bond with our children is the most important tool we can use when trying to guide our children as they grow. Kids who feel strongly connected to their parents WANT to cooperate if they can. They'll still act like kids, which means their emotions will sometimes overwhelm their still-growing prefrontal cortex (the part of our brains responsible for our decision-making skills ). But when they trust us to understand, they're motivated to follow our lead when they can.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Research has found that we need 5 positive interactions to every negative interaction to keep any relationship healthy. Since we spend so much time guiding – aka correcting, reminding, scolding, criticising and yelling – it's important to make sure we spend five times as much time in positive connection.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are our tips on strengthening your bond during the parenting journey.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Hug your child every day, multiple times a day! Physical connection is very important to children. Snuggle your child first thing in the morning and at night. Hug when you say goodbye or when you're reunited. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Turn off distractions when interacting with your child. When we put our distractions down and give our children our full undivided attention we send them the message that they are important to us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Play together. Laughter, smiling and having fun stimulates the release of our feel-good hormones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Listen to your child’s emotions. The habit of seeing things from your child's perspective will ensure that you treat them with respect and look for win/win solutions. It will help you see the reasons for their behaviour rather than seeing them as badly behaved.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks to our friends at @mindmoverspsych for the tips! ✨

#fastfacts At 36 months, children begin to join more words together to make to make longer phrases and sentence, e.g. “put car down”. This is not a hard and fast rule but rather a general guideline. BUTTER SLIME!! If you have kiddos you’ve probably ventured into the wonderful world of slime making 😂! We’ve got slime out our ears over here. My kids started dreaming up all the essential oils that would match their slime, so our house has turned into a very yummy smelling science lab. We’ve got green lime slime, orange wild orange, purple lavender, yellow lemon, turquoise spearmint, red cinnamon, black grapefruit + more in the making. Definitely give this slime recipe a try because we’re having fun over here and I’ve even joined in 😂! My preference??? BALANCE!! Because duh! It’s pretty darn fun to get to fidget with something and get aromatherapy, too 🤩 AROMATHERAPY BUTTER SLIME -1/4 cup elmers glue -Natural food coloring (few drops ) -1/8-1/4 cup soft clay -1 tsp borax + 1/2 cup water as your activator -2-5 drops essential oil of choice 🧪make your activator by adding 1tsp borax into 1/2 cup of water and mixing well 🧪In a separate bowl add your elmers glue + your drops off food coloring and mix 🧪next add a few drops (at a time ) of your activator. Keep adding/mixing in your activator until it’s the desired consistency. Will need to get your hands in there and knead at a certain point 🧪once you get your slime feeling how you want it, add in 1/8-1/4 cup of soft clay. If you add 1/4 cup it will be more “buttery” which I love 🧪once your slime is complete, make a little finger indent and add in 2-5 drops of your favorite oil or oils. Mix and enjoy!

Lunch was inspired by the flavours of Dandan Noodles. I used up pork & veggie stir fry and decided to chop the meat up finely. I sautéed onion, garlic & ginger. To that I added the bottom of the peanut butter(you know the hard to scrape stuff? ) I added water and simmered. I seasoned with Light soy sauce, fish sauce, maple syrup & @whatupyungsta home-made chilli sauce. I then added in the repurposed chopped pork, and simmered. Finished with the left over vegetables (so I didn’t over cook ) Garnished with sesame seeds, green onions, cucumbers. I served on top of 1/2 quinoa & 1/2 short grain brown rice. This was a full flavour and nutrient dense meal that was flavoured with healthy things! @whatupyungsta even went back for seconds! #saygraceandeat #whatsforlunch #whatsfordinnertight #whatsonmyplate #workweekhustle #quickmeal #quickmeals #familydinners #familydinnernight #cookingonabudget #simplemeals #simplemeal #simplemealprep #parentingtip #parentinglife #parentinghacks #parentingwin #husbandapproved

I try to keep is positive y'all ... but ... you know those days when you feel like your kids are SO dependent on you? Like, you're constantly doing everything with them and for them? Whether it's waking them up, getting them dressed, brushing their teeth, making them food, cleaning up after them, playing with them, coddling them, directing them, putting shoes on, taking shoes off, buckling car seats, unbuckling car seats .... and then after 24/7 of that you kind of throw your hands up in the air and say, "Mama needs to be ALONE!" "Quiet time for everyone!" Don't get me wrong, I love and cherish these younger years. When my kids DO need me for things. And I try to remind myself about this often. You know, that one day they won't need me for anything. But, that doesn't negate the fact that I'm only human and there's only one of me, and sometimes I need to vent and admit that I get a little burnt out from time to time. Doing everything for everyone all of the time. The natural opposition to my vent sesh, "Well, you're the one who decided to have three kids." I know! I take full responsibility for the people I've decided to bring into this world. And what an honor it is! I love them with every inch of my heart and soul. But then again, it's also okay to admit that the demands of motherhood can be hard. We all have our seasons, and we certainly all have our days, and I'm here to share that today was mine. 🤍 Quote source unknown.

Does your child ask for sweets?🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ✨If serving sweets after a meal is working for you, keep scrolling! ✨This post is for families who may find themselves in power struggles with their little one over sweets. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When we tell kids they have to finish their food before they get dessert or sweets, we may be rewarding their behavior (finishing the plate ) with food/sweets.🙃⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This doesn't actually teach them to have a healthy relationship with all foods, because sweets are now on a pedestal. It may be teaching kids the “reward” food is superior and the dinner food is inferior. ⁣⁣ Which creates a negative relationship with the dinner foods because they are only eating it to be rewarded or to be polite. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Let's think about the long game! ⁣⁣ Having a healthy relationship with food sometimes means making sweets not a big deal so they seem less “special.” Dinner foods can be on the same level as sweets, and food can just be food. 🙌Then, kids don’t grow up thinking they have to "reward"  themselves with sweets as teens and adults.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If your little one is obsessed with sweets:⁣⁣ -Serve a small bit with a meal when they least expect it! ⁣⁣ -Keep your cool 😎and let them eat the food you serve in whatever order they prefer.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you are wanting personalized guidance on raising your kids to have a healthy relationship with food so you can stop worrying about their nutrition, let's work together. ✨Click the link in my bio-I'm currently accepting new clients.✨

Fun fact: Nick and I dated in high school. He was captain of the football team and I was captain of the dance team. ⁣ ⁣ Fast forward to later in time when I found my ring in my stocking. Nick said “we’re getting married!” I suppose he wasn’t taking “no” for an answer since he told me instead of asking me! 😂⁣ ⁣ I use to be one of those people that thought marriage was just a piece of paper. I can’t even explain to you how wrong that statement is. Marriage is work. It’s something I choose to work at every single day. It’s a bond between two people that will either make you or break you. ⁣ ⁣ Marriage is admitting when you’re wrong and learning the lesson that came with it. It’s loving each other even on the toughest days where it’s hard to love yourself. ⁣ ⁣ My one piece of advice is to NEVER stop dating. Nick and I make sure to sit down together on Thursday nights and watch a movie together. We also make sure we get a baby sitter at least once a month to keep the girls all night long so we can do whatever the night brings to us. We make sure we keep that spark lit ✨⁣ ⁣ 💍 : The Evermore from @themodgents ⁣ ⁣ Modern Gents has made ring shopping so easy and affordable! They have engagement rings or just statement pieces for both women and men! I love how sparkly and shiny this gem is!
