Hey clients! 👋 Are you someone who struggles with exercise because of joint pain? Did you know that isometric exercises are beneficial and affective for those who have arthritis or those that are rehabbing an injury? These exercises are all low impact but are still great for a full body workout! Isometric exercise is when you hold a particular position for a period of time. Your muscles are in contraction, but you aren’t moving the joint at all. These exercises can vary in difficulty as you can add or take away weight as needed (ie. using less weight for overhead hold and using the amount of time to make the exercise affective for your level of health ). Weight can also be added to the exercises to make it more difficult (ie. add weight to hold for a wall sit ). . Bit of a long day for me, exam as soon as I woke up because I slept in. After doing these I think 14h of sleep was called for. . Seriously though, sleep is least expensive, easiest and one of the most essential way to recover mentally and physically. Look at the sleep habits of most top performers and very few sleepess than eight hours a day. What enough sleep is depends on the individual but getting that amount allows for better physiological and physiological recovery causing better performance in practice and i don't think I need to explain why that leads to better performance in competition. . . CREATINE 🌟⚡️. . Okay so being a PT I often get asked a lot about supplements and what individuals should take. So I thought I’d talk about one of the two supplements I take - Creatine Monohydrate. . Creatine is found naturally in muscle cells and helps produce energy. The majority of your body’s creatine is stored as phosphocreatine in your muscles. A lot of people take creatine to help increase muscle mass, improve strength and improve exercise performance. . Supplementing creatine helps your body create more ATP. ATP is the key molecule your body uses for energy - weightlifting and high intensity exercise. ATP is broken down to create energy, however it’s broken down faster than it can be reproduced, so ATP energy stores become depleted quickly. This can limit your ability to keep performing at max intensity. . Supplementing creatine, increases your phosphocreatine stores, which allows you to produce MORE ATP. Which means more energy to perform maximally - explosive energy for weightlifting, HIIT etc. . Other benefits of creatine include; ⚡️strength. ⚡️muscle mass. ⚡️recovery. ⚡️musc endurance. . Also- You will not gain water weight! I remember I use to think creatine would make me bloated, however creatine pulls water into the muscles to help them look FULLER. . CAN YOU STILL HAVE CHEAT MEALS AND MAKE PROGRESS? ⠀ First of all I don’t like to refer to them as ‘cheat meals’, lean towards ‘off plan meals’. ⠀ Purely because you are not cheating on your calories/macros, you are simply trying to include an off plan meal whilst still staying on track. ⠀ There are different approaches for this depending on your current goal, wether you are cutting or bulking. ⠀ If you are BULKING (your calories are high, looking to build muscle, body fat is in an acceptable position ) I highly recommend having an off plan meal 1-2 times a week. Balance is 🔑. Spend time with your family, girlfriend, boyfriend etc. Going slightly over your calories for the day will not do any harm to your physique. As long as your hitting your protein intake for that day as-well, your good to go. Obviously don’t take this as an opportunity to go 2k calories over your target, be reasonable. ⠀ If your CUTTING (calories are low and primary aim is to loose body fat ) then you should be slightly wiser with this, because going a slightly over your calorie targets a few times a week can hinder progress a lot. You can can choose one of three options here if you want an off plan meal... ⠀ - increase expenditure that day / do a little more cardio ⠀ - reduce cals from other days so weekly average deficit is the same ⠀ - reduce cals that day so you don’t go over calorie target ⠀ All these options allow you to stay in your desired deficit. Again I would only recommend doing this 1-2 times a week if you really wanted an off plan meal. ⠀ The main thing you focus on is ENJOYMENT. Review of @natacha .oceane Cut. Reload Training & Nutrition Guide!☀️ This past February I thought I would try out one of @natacha .oceane guides, I’ve heard so many good things about them and also I love❣️her workouts from Instagram and YouTube. I was super excited to start and the app was SO easy to use. You can track your weight/sets and see your improvements over time & the guide is 12 weeks long! 🙌🏼 The first workout had me SWEATING but it honestly felt so good. I was challenging myself and learning new exercises and skills that I now love so much💪🏼The lengths of the workouts are really good because she also prioritizes life outside of working out which I love. @natacha .oceane is now the ONLY person I will buy guides from💙They are effective and she actually backs everything with evidence / science! I thought it was expensive at first but you get your money’s worth with how good the guide is and you can keep it forever🤪 All in all I would highly recommend her guides especially Cut. Reload. I did notice some fat loss but to be honest most of the change came mentally, pushing myself and proving myself just how strong I am every week.
