There’s no room for processed food in my home anymore! This is one of my weekly grocery trips and different meals throughout the last two weeks, of course the food changes but one thing that doesn’t is there is ALWAYS FRESH WHOLE FOODS! If you couldn’t see your mashed potatoes, you probably wouldn’t eat them. That was the premise that BU biopsychologist Alice Cronin-Golomb and her research partners adopted when they designed the “red plate study.” Their idea was to see whether senior citizens with advanced Alzheimer’s disease would eat more food from red plates than they did from white ones. Nursing home staff often complain that Alzheimer’s patients do not finish the food on their plates even when staff encourages them to do so. Forty percent of individuals with severe Alzheimer’s lose an unhealthy amount of weight. Previous explanations for this phenomenon included depression, inability to concentrate on more than one food at a time, and inability to eat unassisted. Cronin-Golomb and her colleagues took a different approach. They believed this behavior might be explained by the visual-cognitive deficiencies caused by Alzheimer’s. All dried up and no place to go… 🥀 Tomorrow marks 2 weeks that my son has had nasal congestion and a cough. I know that we have all hit our limit with the forced air heat…you just can’t keep up even with the most heroic hydration efforts after you have been blasted for this many months. (As I always say, my next home will have a different type of heating )! 🔥 So there are a couple of explanations for what many are experiencing right now…one, the Winter dry out I just mentioned (with our bodies overcompensating by producing extra mucus )…and, what some healing traditions call a “Spring thaw.” Just like the sap starts to run in the maple trees, our body systems start to wake-up and push things out to the surface, too. Even my ears have been popping…just like the birds I hear sining in the morning now. ❄️🌳💦 Whatever you want to call it, if I wore a holster these two products would be in it, ready for the draw. Last night, my phone absolutely died for about an hour. I’m not going to lie, I freaked out a little bit. I had work to do on my phone, I wouldn’t know how to navigate anywhere, you get the point. It’s kind of funny how much this device you hold in your hand means and impacts you life and happiness (to the point that you break out in a full on panic when it no longer works ). in the time of notifications, checking in, and watching the lives of other people, and simply put - phone addiction, I encourage you to set aside time to turn it all off because you WANT to, check in with yourself, and spend time intentionally living your life. I started putting my phone down and logging off of social media each Saturday about six months ago and it’s been a crucial part of my self care practice since. It’s a simple + easy way to check back in with yourself, spend time living your own life instead of watching other people live there’s (sounds silly when I put it this way ) and everyone and everything will be there for you even if you don’t refresh or check in for those 24 hours. Do something cause it brings you joy and excites you not because it would look cute in your next Instagram post or stories. Do the things you’ve been putting off. Sleep in. Go to a coffee shop to enjoy a cup not to use it as the fuel to grind through work. Slow it down. Just spend a little bit of time checking back in with yourself and doing something you like. Spend time living your life simply for your own enjoyment. 💛 not because anyone is forcing you or because your device shuts down on you, but because living your life FULLY is a beautiful way to show yourself some love. trust me, it feels good!

I love hugging people, complimenting them, reassuring them their insecurities aren’t valid, helping with charities, not eating innocent animals (Jesus, pretentious much Ashley 😂? ) giving all the fur babies I see lots and lots of kisses. I like giving little gifts and food to people when I have the means. And I adore cuddling with my loved ones and some might say I’m a little needy 🤦‍♀️. . . BEFORE VS NOW⁣ 🙈 ⁣ I took the left photo at the beginning of this year, right is today. I'm so happy with this result already! 🤭 I'm not nearly where I want to be, but this already feels very good. I used to eat everything I wanted (those things weren't very healthy ) and I felt bad. I often had dips and was not feeling very well. 😳 I guess my mental health is the biggest change! Besides that I'm also a lot happier with my body! ⁣ ⁣ I was a little nervous about posting this photo, but here it is 🙊⁣ ⁣ Hope it's an inspiration for you ☺️
