The Wide Window, (A series of Unfortunate Events No. 3 ), Lemony Snicket Paperback: $25 Hardcover: $45 *Swipe for a quote* I think this was one of my favourites in the series if I can remember correctly, only because the Baudelaires ( the children in the book ) were able to experience a fleeting moment of true happiness. This is not a happy series, as the title clearly states so you have to take the few happy moments in stride and then let them go as the next horrible thing occurs. As Lemony Snicket states, if you are here for happiness, this book is not for you haha. "Dear Reader, If you have not read anything about the Baudelaire orphans, then before you read even one more sentence, you should know this: Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are kindhearted and quick-witted; but their lives, I am sorry to say, are filled with bad luck and misery. All of the stories about these three children are unhappy and wretched, and this one may be the worst of them all. If you haven't got the stomach for a story that includes a hurricane, a signalling device, hungry leeches, cold cucumber soup, a horrible villain, and a doll named Pretty Penny, then this book will probably fill you with despair. I will continue to record these tragic tales, for that is what I do. You, however, should decide for yourself whether you can possibly endure this miserable story. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket" #thrifted #secondhand #thriftedbooks #thrifter #thrifting #secondhandclothes #thriftstore #trinidadandtobago 🇹🇹 #thriftedclothing #thriftedfashion #thriftstorefinds #thrift #thriftedstyle #thriftstore #theliterarythrifter #bookstagram #bibliophile #aseriesofunfortunateevents #lemonysnicket #thereptileroom #thewidewindow

rm28 (hard cover with dust jacket ) kahlil gibran the treasured writings goodreads 4.43 The Treasured Writings of Kahlil Gibran" represents the most comprehensive volume of works of the Lebanese poet and philosopher ever published. This enriching collection of stories, prose poems, verse, parables and autobiographical essays comprising the major body of Kahlil Gibran's works have been carefully translated and edited by a noted trio of Gibran scholars... Martin L. Wolf, Anthony R. Ferris and Andrew Dib Sherfan. Each of the ten books included in this beautifully bound collectors' volume has been hailed by critics as literary masterpieces. The works in this collection clearly demonstrate why critics regard Kahlil Gibran as eminently among the world's great writers. His writings reflect the wistful beauty, fierce anger, lofty majesty and the abiding peace that Eastern wisdom achieves in its contemplation. Often revered as the Dante of the twentieth century, the immortal savant of Lebanon, Kahlil Gibran created verses and lyric prose which impart to the reader a grand symphony of sparkling joys. These qualities have made Kahlil Gibran master of the written word. #booklover #bookish #bibliophile #bookaddict #bookgram #instabooks #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #booknerd #bookcommunity #bookobsessed #instaread #malaysiamembaca #gilabuku #hantubuku #bacabuku #ulatbuku #bookishlove

Sisters and Lies by Bernice Barrington ⭐⭐⭐ One hot August night, Rachel Power gets the call everyone fears. It's the police. Her younger sister Evie's had a car crash, she's in a coma. Can Rachel fly to London right away? With Evie injured and comatose, Rachel is left to pick up the pieces of her sister's life. But it's hard fitting them together, especially when she really doesn't like what she sees. Why was Evie driving when she doesn't even own a licence? Who is the man living in her flat and claiming Evie is his girlfriend? How come she has never heard of him? The more mysteries Rachel uncovers the more she starts asking herself how well she ever really knew her sister. And then she begins to wonder if the crash was really the accident everybody says it is. Back in hospital, Evie, trapped inside an unresponsive body, is desperately trying to wake up. Because she's got an urgent message for Rachel - a warning which could just save both their lives . ********************************** Great cover, great story! A really good read, and one I was glued to from beginning to end! Bernice Barrington's 'Sisters and Lies' had a bit of everything; romance, suspense, psychology. And attempted murder? Maybe! Initially told from Rachel's perspective, we are finally introduced to Evie who lies unconscious in a coma, but whose mind is still very active can tell her own story. The saying says that 'there are two sides to every story,' and never has this been more true than in 'Sisters and Lies.' The same story from two very different perspectives and two very different narratives doesn't fail to grip and surprise! read. #book #bookhookup #bookstagrammademedoit #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookishlove #booklover #lovetoread #readingisworship #readingismagic #readingtime #readingisfundermental #readeveryday 📚 #readlikethereisnotomorrow #booknerd #booknerdproblems #bookworm_insta #bookwormsofinstagram #bookwormproblems 🤓 #bookalicious #booksbooksbooks #bookaholic #bookaddict #bibliophile #bookreview #booklovers #reads #readabook #readingmeme #readingwomenaward

This story is about a lot of things, but mostly about idiots. So it needs saying from the outset that it’s always very easy to declare that other people are idiots, but only if you forget how idiotically difficult being human is. Especially if you have other people you’re trying to be a reasonably good human being for. -Anxious People @backmansk 🌟- Not my thing (Will not bring it up unless forced ) 🌟🌟- Meh (Brings it up in conversation if asked ) 🌟🌟🌟- Cool Beans (Slightly refers to what I'm reading in a converstion ) 🌟🌟🌟🌟- Enjoyable Read. (Will bring it up in a car ride. ) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟- Amazing! (Can't shut up about it. Will you give you a play by play of the book ) Rating Scale for Steam 🔥 - You can read this out to your momma 🔥🔥- Curtain Close Moment 🔥🔥🔥- Just read in your head! 🔥🔥🔥🔥- Getting awkward and skipping pages. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 - Ya Nasty 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 1/5 🔥 PHENOMENAL AND MIND BLOWING! Wow I LOVED this book and I was pretty anxious 😉 going in because I’ve seen mixed reviews about this one but let me tell you THIS IS A MASTERPIECE! The writing is so poetic and fluid! The more I read, the more I craved for more! It was brilliant we have multiple perspectives and the police as well as the reader is trying to figure out who robbed the CASHLESS bank. That is the overall premise but it doesn’t even touch the surface of what this book is really about. There’s multiple people that you follow but you get an emotional connection with each and everyone of them. They made me laugh, shake my head, and definitely had tears rolling down my face! One thing that I kind of found funny is the animosity towards “twenty-year-olds” like “Because even if twenty-year-olds can be wrong about a lot of things in life (and those of us who aren’t twenty can probably agree that most twenty-year-olds are wrong so often that most of them would have just a one in four chance of answering a yes or no question correctly )” and “Hand on heart, which of us hasn’t wanted to pull a gun after talking to a twenty-year-old?” I even wrote in my book “Danggg Fredrik What twenty-year-old hurt you boo?” #bookishladiesclub #nextreadbuddies #readersgonnaread #mustread #bibliophile

What Goes Up, Katie Kennedy I’m not much of a space fan and therefore space themed books. That’s what I thought this was when a fellow bookworm forced this book on me but I have to admit I loved it. Eventhough this looks up a space nerd’s alley, I loved the portrayal of the value of friendship and teamwork as well as the amazingly smart characters and all the fascinating tests they go through to earn a spot on NASA’s mysterious agency. It’s worth mentioning that the tests were truly quite the touch to the book and it’s uniqueness. The jokes and quirky banter between the teens really kept a smile on my face all throughout ( look out for Eddie’s corny knock knock jokes ). Eddie, Reg and Rosa are our only hope for saving the world! This book took me on an exhilarating adventure. “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself” @bethereinfive Reviewed by: @disunijayasekara #bookstagram #books #booklover #bookworm #reading #bookstagrammer #bookish #bookaddict #booknerd #bibliophile #instabook #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #bookphotography #read #newtobookstagram #bookstagramcommunity #bookreview #readersofinstagram #reading #read #whatgoesup #katekennedy

The Reptile Room, ( A Series of Unfortunate Events No. 2 ) Price: $25 *Swipe for a quote* (Note: My paw paw plant was not happy with me for resting this book on it's leaves ) The best series EVER. As a kid I was so absorbed in this book that I would get a headache from nonstop reading because I was so eager to get to the next book in the series. You are doing yourself or whoever you give this book/series to a favor. The dreariness, the despair and the hilarity of it this book is what has made it a timeless classic. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent children. They are charming, and resourceful, and have pleasant facial features. Unfortunately, they are exceptionally unlucky. In the first two books alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, a lumpy bed, a deadly serpent, a large brass reading lamp, a long knife, and a terrible odour. In the tradition of great storytellers, from Dickens to Dahl, comes an exquisitely dark comedy that is both literary and irreverent, hilarious and deftly crafted. Never before has a tale of three likeable and unfortunate children been quite so enchanting, or quite so uproariously unhappy.

Hi friends, happy Wednesday! 🔆 〰️ I had quite a rough morning this morning, so I’m posting a bit later than usual today. I finished Lolita last week, and now I’m in the process of preparing an essay on Humbert himself. 〰️ I had many people reach out to me interested in my thoughts on this book, so here they are: Lolita, as I think it does to most people, disgusted me at first. My first fifty pages passed with a permanent look of distress pasted on my face. That being said, as the novel progresses, it becomes increasingly clear that this novel is about more than just pedophilia. Although the avenue through which Nabokov explores these ideas is certainly unconventional, if one simply looks a bit deeper, I think there are incredibly profound points being made. That being said, I still haven’t formed my own opinion on whether exploiting such a horrible topic is reasonable to make these points. 〰️ Overall, I generally recommend this book to anyone who is interested, but be warned: there are many parts of this novel that are unsettling and upsetting. 〰️ Alright, that’s all. I hope you all have wonderful rests of your days! 💛

Seven stars. I give The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue seven stars, one for each star of Addie’s own freckled constellation; the same constellation that is now imprinted on my heart. ⁣ ⁣ This book wrapped me up in it’s beauty and held me until the very end. It spoke directly to my heart, sometimes in a soft whisper but often it was loud — giving me answers to questions I’ve been too afraid to ask, bringing clarity to my undescribable feelings, and saying everything (and more ) that I needed to hear right now. This book was a sturdy shoulder that assured me that I’m not alone. ⁣ ⁣ A breath-taking marriage of historical fiction and magical realism, I found my perfect pairing. Schwab brought pure magic to the historical events Addie experienced and as a history major, this made my heart feel so full. As for the characters? All so wonderfully flawed, beautiful, and real. Addie, Henry, and Luc will always be so loved by me. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve never sobbed over a book simply because it ended, but Addie LaRue had me weeping. I wasn’t ready to step away from the beauty of Schwab’s writing and the characters I grew to love so much but in all fairness, I don’t think I could ever be ready. ⁣ ⁣ The girl who ran for her life changed mine. Thank you @veschwab a million times over for this magic. ⁣ ⁣ ⚠️: isolation, depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, loneliness, assault, anxiety ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Tags. ⁣ #IRememberAddie #FindHerReviews #Bookstagram #BookReview #EpicReads #BookLover #BookCommunity #Bibliophile #BooksBooksBooks #PhotosInBetween #BooksAndCoffee #BooksOfInstagram #CoffeeAndCurrentlyReading #BookWorm #BookLove #BookishPost #CurrentlyReading#Reader #BookPhotography #InstaBook #BooksOfInstagram #ReadersOfInstagram #FallReading

Do you subscribe to any book boxes? •I got my copy of this book from my very first ever Fairyloot box. I really wish that I enjoyed this book more. Feel free to check out my review below for my overall thoughts and feelings. •Review• ⭐️⭐️ Overall I felt like this book was just okay. I expected there to be a lot more going on when the blurb was talking about the competition for her to save their family. I went in expecting battles and badass female characters but I didn't really get a ton of that. This book was basically an uninteresting talent show in space. I wasn't attached to any of the character so I wasn't super invested in if she won the competition or not. This book throws a lot of the Desi culture and Myths at you using words phrases at you that you wouldn't understand without prior knowledge of the culture so I was having to look up things as I was reading for some parts of the book to make sense to me (as someone who knows nothing about the culture or myths ). That being said I do like that I was able to learn new things and learn more about the culture. That is one thing that I am working on as a reader. Overall I wasn't super impressed with this book which is disappointing because of it being the August 2020 book in my Fairyloot box and I have a signed special edition. I wish I enjoyed it more. I wouldn't personally recommend. I will check out other books by this author though because it is a debut book and I know people improve. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #book #booklife #bookworm #reading #readingtime #bibliophile #bookpic #booknerd #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #readersofig #igreads #booksbooksbooks #bookaddict #booklover #bookreview #bookcommunity #tbr #bookrecommendation #shelfie #bookphotography #booktography

Happy wednesday, readers 🍁⠀ which authors you haven't read anything by you're most curious to try? ⠀ ⠀ My list of books to read continues to grow each day but, of course, I keep adding new books and new authors finding a little space for everyone 🍂 ⠀ The last ones I added and that I hope to read soon are: Marcel Proust, L.M. Montgomery and Walt Whitman.⠀ Literature is a huge part of me and my life, but there are still so many authors that I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know through their works. Of course, literature is a huge world and there are many others that I'm interested in and that I hope to read soon, but these three are my priorities at the moment.⠀ ⠀ Let me know if you've ever read anything by these three authors and what books you recommend starting with 🧡⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ .

I know I’ve said it before & I’m going to say it again: Autumn is literally the best season! I mean if warm drinks and cozy weather doesn’t make you want to read then I can’t relate. I had big big reading plans for October and thus far my reading has been slow but everything that I’ve been reading has been incredible - so can I really complain? I’m currently reading The Chestnut Man (yes still…its scary! ) & loving it so much. I’m hoping to read a few more books before the end of the spooky season. The Shadow is most definitely next (I’ve been seeing nothing but rave reviews ) and I need to get my hands on a copy of Jar of Hearts. How’s your spooky season reading going? What are you currently reading? P.S. How gorgeous is @thebirchwoodcottageco ? . . . . . . . . #bookclub #bookcommunity #bookgram #bookishfeature #bibliophile # #igreads #goodreads #books #bookstagrammer #reading #tbr #currentlyreading #bookishcanadians #readingasthetic #indigofavs #bookpics #booksta #readinggoals #bookasthetic #bookrecommendations #fallbooks #autumnreads #fallbookmarks #cabinreading #cottagereads #cabinreads
